coffee coffee coffee

When people used to say that they couldn't function without their morning coffee, I never really understood them. You don't need a coffee, you want a coffee. There is a difference. Sadly, I am now one of those coffee addicts who demands their morning hit of caffeine before even thinking about doing anything productive. Thus, I set out to find the best coffee on the Gold Coast.

My mother and I decided to ride to lots of little coffee shops around the Coast. The routine was the same: I would order my latte, and mum would order her hot chocolate, extra hot with marshmallows (mum doesn't drink coffee, but she was more than happy to come along for the ride!) After numerous latte's, the best coffee I had was from Loren Food and Wine in Tugun. The owner is originally from Melbourne, and brought their beautiful cafe to the heart of Tugun. I encourage all the avid coffee drinkers out there to go and have a try for yourself! You won't regret it!

Alexa Chung

If I could be anyone, I don't think I'd give it a second thought. There is only one person who pops into my mind: Alexa Chung. This English TV presenter, model, contributing editor at British Vogue, and most recently turned author has all eyes on her. With the release of her book, 'It', Miss Chung just can't seem to do one damn thing wrong! How can one person be so perfect!?

Notorious for her effortless and chic style, Miss Chung has won British Style Icon three years running at the British Fashion Awards, and needless to say we're not surprised! No matter what she wears, she is the talk of the town and leaves the fashion world in awe. Interestingly, when asked about her 'It' girl status, Miss Chung simply replied:

"I didn't pursue that title. It's not a career must for me. When I was a teenager, I didn't grow up and say, 'I'm going to be an It Girl. ... I didn't have a famous father or I wasn't being supported by a huge trust fund, so all the things I associate with that title weren't at my disposal."

With an answer such as that, it's easy to see why the fashion world can't get enough of the self-made fashion icon, and why we fell even more deeply in love with the British beauty (if that's even possible!)

Miss Chung, you truly are an inspiration, and we absolutely adore you!

#singleandlovingit

After years of being at the centre of everyone's whitty, yet slightly nasty jokes and sly comments about my single status, I've decided to set the record straight. I'm not single because I can't find someone to be with - I'm single because I want to be. And there's nothing wrong with that. At nearly 19, people find it odd that I've only had one very brief relationship, and automatically assume there must be something wrong with me. But let me assure you, I am completely, and utterly content with my life and don't plan on having anything serious for quite some time. Don't get me wrong, if someone comes along and sweeps me off my feet, I won't be saying no to that! But in the meantime, there's places to go, people to meet, and too many ladies nights to look forward to! So calm down everybody!

As I come from a family of self-confessed comedians, I like to think I can handle all the jokes thrown at me regarding my lack of relationships, but there comes a time when funny just becomes hurtful, and not long after that comes the self-doubt. So after years of criticism, I've decided enough is enough,  and I am putting on my big girl panties and telling my side of the story. So here it is: I'm single and I'm loving it. I want to concentrate on myself and what I want with my life before I have to even consider anybody else. And I don't think there is anything wrong with that.

I would like to introduce my readers to one of my biggest inspirations: Miss Cara Delevingne. Cara is the 'it' girl of the modelling world right now, and is, you guessed it, single! So take note of Miss Delevingne, one of the most sought-after models of 2013, and flaunt your single status!

2014

A new year, a new you. Before we begin looking into what the year of 2014 will hold, we must not forget to look back at 2013. For me personally, 2013 was a year of learning. I moved out of home and completed my first year of University. With some bumps and hurdles along the way (and a very large amount of caffeine!), I not only learnt that family and friends can get you through anything, but also that you have to take charge of your life. Live the life you want to live. Be happy - it's the most important thing. Whether it's sleeping in, or not sleeping at all, you have to do what makes YOU happy.

Interestingly, when googling the year of 2014 it came up that it is the year of the horse, and looks to be as interesting and intense as 2013! Ordinarily, we all wish that our new year will be better than our last, and this year is no exception. My goal for 2014 is to start standing up for myself and fighting for what I really want, starting with a clean up of my facebook friends list! Indeed, my new years eve (after finishing work at 11:30pm) will include sitting on my computer and deleting 'friends' who I never see, nor really care about.

So, what will your new years resolution be, and how will you ring in the new year?
